Y Safle

Y Safle is Welsh for “The Site”. A web site is “safle we”, and a bus stop “safle bws”. This is really “The Site” on the web!

However, the bus stop example points to a double entendre. Safle bws is perhaps more literally a “bus stand”. Safle can also mean “position”. So “Y Safle” can mean “the position” or perhaps “the stand”. This might put you in mind of “making a stand”.

Unfortunately language is a fickle thing, and the Welsh for “make a stand” is “gwneud safiad”, which shares the same root, but is not quite the same thing. Never mind. Please enjoy your visit to my site, and my pretentious efforts at taking a stand on the things I believe.

Almost certainly you will disagree with much of what I say. Disagreement is good, because it gives you a chance to engage in this site. You are welcome to leave comments. I do not delete comments I disagree with. I would only delete comments if they are highly offensive or vulgar. Constructive disagreement is very welcome, because when we disagree and discuss our differences we are forced to think through what we believe (which is a good thing).

Whether you agree or disagree with me, please feel free to link to this site. I will provide reciprocal links to anyone who does so.

About me:

I am a Computer Science Professional, Christian, a husband and father. The stuff I write about is usually either technology related (my specialism is Internet Protocols and System and Network Administration, but that can encompass lots of other things) or else it is related to my beliefs which are informed by my Christian faith. Sometimes I also write about education, as that is part of what I do.
